In the microhardness Vickers test, the diamond pyramid indenter used in the standard Vickers test is applied with a much lower force, typically ranging from 1 gf (gram-force) to 1 kgf (kilogram-force), making it suitable for testing fine features such as thin films, small parts, microstructures, or micro-scale regions of larger components. It is a variation of the standard Vickers hardness test, specifically designed to measure the hardness of small-scale materials, thin coatings, or microstructural features.
